Student third best debate student in world

Two Widefield High School juniors, Casey Ringer and Taeya Andrews, competed on the World Schools Debate team at the 2019 National Speech and Debate Tournament held in Dallas,Texas in June. Taeya's debate team took 71st place out of 500, and Casey's team took 41st place out of 500. The teams competed in a 3 vs. 3 debate which was centered around world policy, humanitarian aid, and multilateral cooperations. The team placements are determined by speaker style, passion, presentation, and logic. Individually, Casey took 3rd place out of 800 students, making her the third best debate student in the world.
