End of Year Letters from Administration

Gladiator Community,

I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. The following is the schedule of events for students to have access to Widefield High School to obtain their personal items and begin the process of closing our building down and finishing our academic school year.

** Please read this e-mail in its entirety for information regarding end of year procedures.

Distance learning reminder for the remainder of the school year 

- The last day for distance learning for seniors is May 11, 2020

- The last day for distance learning for all other students is May 15, 2020

- All completed hard-copy assignments should be turned in to the black drop box    located outside the front entrance of Widefield High School by May 8, 2020.

Student access to the building 
As we allow students to come into the building and complete their end-of-year checkout process,  we cannot emphasize enough that we will be adhering to and enforcing social distancing guidelines to the best of our ability. For all students and adults who enter the building, we ask that they wear face-coverings if at all possible.  We will also be encouraging 6 feet of distance between individuals while on campus.

We will have several stations throughout the building for students to accomplish the following tasks.  The tasks can be completed in any order.

Locker clean-out  

- Students will enter through the math wing exit doors to clean out their lockers 

- Students will enter through the main doors of Bowers’ Gymnasium to clean out their PE lockers

- If students do not come and clean out their belongings from their lockers, our custodial staff will bag their belongings and store them in the building until students can come to pick them up.  We will hold onto these items through Friday, May 22, 2020.  If students are not able to come to school on their designated day to get their belongings, they may come to school on Tuesdays from 8:00-12:00 pm to pick up their items.  If items are not collected by May 22, we will donate them to appropriate community agencies. 
- Textbooks, Library Books, Novels, Calculators - Students will enter through the Counseling Center west doors

- Instruments and Music turn in - Students will enter through 

the main entrance into the music wing (Band Doors)

- Band/Choir/Orchestra Uniforms- Students will turn in their uniforms behind the auditorium at the back doors.

- Yearbook pick-up - students will enter through the main office doors

- Medications pick-up - Students will enter through the main office doors and go to the health office.

- Lunch Accounts - Students will enter through the side door of the cafeteria 

- Paying conditions/fees and turning in remaining hard-copy homework - Students will enter through the science wing doors between the main building and counseling office.

- NJROTC Uniforms - Students will enter through the side door into the NJROTC room.

- Art Projects - Students will enter through the black gate to the art room.

We will adhere to the following schedule for students to access the building. 

If you have specific questions that can be answered by your individual teacher please reach out to them with questions.

Monday, May 4th - 11th Graders 

A-F  8:00 am - 10:00 am 

G-M 10:00 am - 12:00 am

N-Z 12:00 pm -2:00 pm


Tuesday, May 5th - 10th Graders 
A-F 8:00 am - 10:00 am 

G-M 10:00 am - 12:00 am

N-Z 12:00 pm -2:00 pm

Wednesday, May 6th - 12th Graders  
A-G  10:00 am - 11:00 am

H-M  11:00 am - 12:00 pm

N-S  12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

T-Z  1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Alternative time if you can't attend your alotted time - 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

All seniors will complete locker cleanout, textbook returns, yearbook pickup, paying conditions/fees, etc. FIRST, then drive/go to the north parking lot to pick up the following senior items: 

- Cap/Gown/Announcements/etc.

- Diploma Cover

- Gladiator Class of 2020 Yard Sign

- Military Cords (qualifying students only)

- NHS Sash (qualifying students only)

Thursday, May 7th - 9th Graders 
A-F  8:00 am - 10:00 am 

G-M 10:00 am - 12:00 am

N-Z 12:00 pm -2:00 pm


Friday, May 8th-  Athletics / Clubs / Make-Up 
Make-ups and Club materials - Students will enter through  the main office doors from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Athletics Department and specific coaches will be sending information on the location of their station on Friday, May 8th.  Students will turn in uniforms and any equipment that may have been issued prior to the suspension of in-person learning.

These processes and schedules are designed for students to have access to collect their items and complete any business with the school before we end this academic school year.  Please encourage your children to accomplish what they need to as quickly as possible.  Please note that this is not a time for students to gather, sign yearbooks, or “catch-up” with peers.  We want to ensure that we can provide the safest and most efficient process for students.
